San Diego – Mental health services reduced
The good news
California ranks very high in mental health services- $106-$160 spending per capita. The bad news, funding has been reduced, $3,612.8 million in 2009 to $2,848 million in 2012, -21.2 percent. The other good news
San Diego has always been rated as one of the healthiest counties in the country; the reason being, bicyclers, joggers and exercisers of all stripes take care of yourselves in the wonderful climate.
Healthy body, Healthy mind
There is no denying that connection. And, while we all experience bodily issues, it is only natural that we experience mental ones as well; stress serving as an exacerbater. Some people naturally have the ability to think through a stressful situation, or to even be motivated by it. But for others, additional help is needed. (Joseph LeDoux, a professor of science at New York University, directs the Emotional Brain Institute. He is the author of “Anxious: Using the Brain to Understand and Treat Fear and Anxiety.”)
