Basketball; my sport, my profession, my life
Passing, shooting, rebounding and strategy skills are a result of my long hours of practice, coaching and competition. But there is another significant dimension that makes all the difference- the mind game. Some have described the size of a basketball court as measuring 5 inches wide. Five inches wide; the distance between the player’s ears. How you handle yourself mentally, both on and off the court, separates you from your competitors.
My mission is to show you that mental advantage. Talk to me when you are preparing yourself for the game; even the night before. Talk to me about the necessity of practice, practice, practice. Practice “getting in the zone” long before game time so that when you are there, everything becomes automatic and you gain confidence.
Here is what is said about me and my career:
“Grant Andrew Long is a retired American professional basketball player
A 6’9″ forward from Eastern Michigan University, Long was selected with the 33rd pick of the 1988 NBA Draft by the Miami Heat. Long played six seasons for the Heat, earning a reputation for his aggressive defense and strong rebounding. After the first two games of the 1994-95 season, Long was traded to the Atlanta Hawks . Long played two separate seasons with the Hawks (1994-1996) and (1998–99). He also played for the Detroit Pistons, Vancouver and Memphis Grizzlies, and Boston Celtics. He ended his NBA playing career in 2003 with 9,518 total points and 6,154 total rebounds”.
Broadcasting Career
“Having served as the broadcast analyst for the Oklahoma City Thunder since 2008, Long resigned from the position in July of 2014. In October 2014 Long joined Fox Sports Detroit as a Detroit Pistons analyst and sideline reporter”.
